Run.......Run........Run..............the Race

Wow!!! How time escapes me! It has been quite some time since my last post. Life has been really busy. I am really excited about the role that I have accepted inside Joshua Ministries (mission group at my church). I guess the reason I am is because that I am really passionate about missions and outreach. It saddens me though when I look around and see that this is not going on so much in alot of our churches. We have become experts at inreach but when it comes to outreach I think we are missing the boat. I say this because alot of research shows that our churches are stagnet and not growing. Baptisms are down....and before you say it I am not a numbers guy but logic would say if we were out serving and sharing the Gospel then wouldn't research and numbers reflect that???? I mean we are the ones that know the Truth and we know that it set us free so how can we set and stare at a world in bondage and sit idle???? I do believe that the four walls of our churches have become the greatest barrier that we have ever seen.......IS it a "us vs. them" attitude or they don't fit our church...I don't know.....All I know is.....it is time to say BREAK! to our Holy Huddle and get out there and be about His business!!!!

Dogwood 100

I think I Can......... I think I can......Remember the little engine that could??? Well that might describe myself and a couple of my friends. The Dogwood festival is fast approaching, faster than I would like, I might add. Along with this festival comes the Dogwood 100 Bike ride and ohhhhhhh boy I am excited!!! It is the first ride of the year....Time to get off the winter exercise bike and on to the Univega (bike) and get the wind in my face. The only dread that I have is the approx 3 mile Sewanee Mtn. climb. It is the backside road (Roarks Cove) which is a big challenge, ummmm let me rephrase that it is a hugggggggge challenge....I mean it is the first ride of the year....Oh well I am sure we will conquer the 62 mile course I think in about 4 hours??? I hope.......I am looking foward so much to cycling this year... We are going to do alot of 100 mile rides... I guess why I like it so much  is that its me, God, and my bike and a bonus is some of the scenery.....Well I hope that you guys have an awesome yeah thats right I said awesome day and may God bless every step that you take.......

Spring Break????

Hummmmm......Spring Break for Adults....That is a really cool concept. I was thinking about this because our students are on Spring Break this week and I will have to admit I am a little jealous. It made me stop and think. Why is our culture so busy???? It makes me think about the trip I made to Ecuador a couple of summers ago and how the people were so laid back in comparison to "US". I saw people that people here in the U.S would consider not even on the scale as far as poverty goes but these were some of the most happy people I had ever met. The term poverty did not exist because there was nothing to compare it to. They did not have the "Media Oulets" or whatever telling them that they were poor so it didnt exist to them. I was also reading the book "End of the Spear" which tells the account of Stephen Saint and his family moving to the jungles of Ecuador to live with the Waidoni. The people that had killed his dad and other missionaries. He was trying to get the people to wok to build an airstrip and the word work is not even in the Waidoni vocab????The only having the word "to do". They did what they had to do to live. Imagine that they just existed. They hunt or gather what they eat and just exist.....I know that I may just be rambling but I am tired of stuff and I am tired of seeing so many people just completely worn out running a race that they can never win. The rat race of stuff! ..It amazes me how much I have...I am typing a blog entry on a computer in a lighted heated building. I just ate a hotpocket and I am finishing a diet Sundrop. Iam sitting in a padded computer chair with a telephone and any other type of office equipment that you can think of......my cell phone is ringing my email program just notified I have an email...After the work day is done I will get in my car and drive home to my house...We will eat dinner and then I will grab my laptop and do some research for my next sermon...I will watch a favorite T.V shoe or some news...Jump on my exercise bike for an hour ( getting reading for cycling season) and on and on and on ..Do you see what I am getting at????? We often say that we have it pretty good...What do we compare that to??? What is the scale??????.....I guess my quest is to have more quality than quantity.

Wanted Christians to Share Their Faith......$1000 per Person Winessed to!

Humm........I wonder how many eyebrows would raise if that was put in our church bulletins??? Or better yet, how many people would apply?

I was just think about that very concept after hearing some speak about the it; would the love of money help you overcome your fear of sharing the gospel. I would think that most that you ask this question would say yes...I know at this point you are thinking that I am strange and extreme. Good. We are on the same page. Think about it, our societies love of money would help most overcome their fear of rejection or redicule! In the sales world the saying is "a no is another step closer to a yes". Sales people are trained to believe that the rejection is not personal and the more sales pitches you make the more sales closings you will have. Now, please don't even think that I am comparing the Gospel Message to some sales pitch. I just want to get my point across that we are scared to share about our Savior and the proof is in our society and our community and if we announced at the next church meeting that everyone that shows up to visitation effort will be paid $1000 dollars per person they witness to...hummmm....How much is your salvation worth and what about the person that shared the gospel with you..

The question of the day is: Do we love money more than we love our Savior?

Just think you can make $5000 dollars today! Naaaa...I would rather be paid in God Currency

Bumper Sticker Christians

I just had a thought. I was thinking about all the bumper stickers I see on cars. I guess this thought was provoked by the bumpersticker post but anyway........I was thinking about the only time I have been flipped off or mouthed absenities to on the interstate. It was by this dude with two bumperstickers that read "Real Men Love Jesus" and the other was "God answers knee mail"........I really felt bad that day.....Maybe it was because I was doing 80 in a 70 mile per hour zone that provoked the action or maybe it was that I slunched down a little in my seat because of embarrasment. I mean I am a Christian, and bumpersticker dude tells the world he is a Christian so answer this one question........How does the world tell us apart driving down the interstate?????. (Other than the fact that road rage didn't occur)

On a side note isn't it funny sometime when someone passes you and then a long way down the raod you pull behind them at the redlight...Well that was what happened with my story
